The Rongai Route is one of the less popular but scenic paths for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Morning: Breakfast and drive to the Rongai Gate (2 hours).- Trekking Begins: After registering with the park authorities, start the hike through the rain forest.- Distance: Approximately 6 km (3.7 miles).- Trekking Duration:About 3-4 hours.- Campsite: First Cave Camp (2,600 m / 8,530 ft).- Overnight: Camp.
Morning: Breakfast, then continue trek.- Distance: Approximately 8 km (5 miles).- Trekking Duration: About 4-5 hours.- Highlights: Stunning views of the Kibo peak and surrounding landscapes.- Campsite: Second Cave Camp (3,450 m / 11,319 ft).- Overnight: Camp.
Morning: Breakfast, followed by ascent.- Distance: Approximately 8 km (5 miles).- Trekking Duration: About 4-5 hours.- Highlights: Entering moorland with diverse flora.- Campsite: Kikelewa Camp (3,600 m / 11,811 ft).- Overnight:Camp.
Morning:Breakfast and trek toward Mawenzi.- Distance: Approximately 9 km (5.6 miles).- Trekking Duration: About 5-6 hours.- Highlights: Dramatic views of Mawenzi Peak.- Campsite: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m / 14,200 ft).- Overnight:Camp.
Activity: Optional day hike to explore the area or climb higher for acclimatization.- Distance: Variable; explore around Mawenzi.- Overnight: Mawenzi Tarn Camp.Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Camp- Morning: Breakfast and descend to Kibo.- Distance: Approximately 9 km (5.6 miles).- Trekking Duration: About 5-6 hours.- Campsite: Kibo Camp (4,700 m / 15,420 ft).- Final Preparations: Rest before the summit attempt.- Overnight: Camp.
Night: Start the ascent around midnight.- Distance: Approximately 6 km (3.7 miles) to the summit.-Trekking Duration: 6-8 hours to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,341 ft), then descend.-Early Morning: Reach Uhuru Peak for sunrise.- Afterward, start the descent back to Kibo Camp for breakfast.- Continue further down to Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,205 ft).Overnight: Horombo Hut.DAY 8: Horombo to Marangu Gate (Descent)Morning:Breakfast and final descent to Marangu Gate.
Morning:Breakfast and final descent to Marangu Gate.Distance: Approximately 20 km (12.4 miles).Trekking Duration: About 5-7 hours.Celebrate Completion: Receive summit certificates.Return to Moshi/Arusha: Transfer back to your hotel.
Relaxation: Enjoy the morning, perhaps some local shopping in Moshi or Arusha.Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
